The same house hold rule prevented victims of domestic or sexual abuse who lived under the same roof as their perpetrator from accessing criminal injuries compensation if their abuse took place between 1st March 1969 – 30 June 1998. In June 2020, the NI Assembly passed an amendment removing this clause.
