The Prevention and Support Working Group works to raise awareness and consider areas of prevention, early intervention and support for victims and children.
The Working Group looks at services for people from a minority ethnic background and other hard to reach groups; consider innovative methods of engaging and working with local communities to raise awareness and support for adults and children and consider ideas and methods for improving communication across services. They raise awareness of a variety of issues related to domestic and sexual violence including awareness raising on workplace policies, domestic violence and mental health and financial abuse. The working group developed the Haven:Belfast domestic violence app and have delivered a variety of awareness raising workshops.
Previous activities the working group have undertaken include –
- Developing a template domestic abuse workplace policy and encouraging agencies and organisation to adopt it.
- Developing a guidance document for people experiencing financial abuse
- Worked with Vital Voices Global Partnership to deliver the first Justice Institute on Gender Based Violence in the UK.
