The Protection and Justice Working Group looks at the criminal justice system and the role of the criminal justice agencies such as the Police, Probation Board and Courts in supporting victims of domestic & sexual violence and abuse.
The Working Group supports and lobby’s for initiatives that hold perpetrators (including non adjudicated perpetrators) accountable and effective interventions to address perpetrators behaviours. They consider ways that the criminal justice agencies can work together effectively and how access to justice for victims can be improved.
Previous activities the working group have undertaken include –
- Developing guidance on legal remedies available to people experiencing domestic & sexual violence
- Developing guidance on child contact for people experiencing domestic & sexual violence
- Awareness raising around the anonymous registration scheme
- Raising awareness of the issue of adult child to parent violence
